UviClear™ UV Transparent Glass Protectors

Are Your Bands Fading? If so, it might be time to change the UviClear on your transilluminator.

The most costly component of any transilluminator is the UV filter glass. The UviClear™ UV Transparent Glass Protector shields this expensive glass from physical damage and chemical contamination. A new UviClear allows approximately 85% of full 312 nm UV intensity to reach your sample. After 48 hours of exposure to standard 312 nm bulbs, solarization cuts transmission to less than 50%.

Under average conditions, this translates into a useful life of about six months to a year. Under heavy use, replacement may be necessary after three to six months. UviClear protectors are not recommended for use with shortwave (254 nm) bulbs. Replacement UviClears are available for all FOTODYNE transilluminators. Custom sizes are also available to fit other manufacturers' current models.
