FOTO/Analyst® Investigator/FX Systems

A Wide Array of Lighting Options
The Investigator/FX features transillumination and epi-illumination with a variety of emission options: multi-wavelength UV, white, blue, and more. Combined with the sensitivity of a CCD camera and our large-format transilluminators, this gives you the flexibility to capture images of many different lab samples. Acquire, print, and store photos of gels, microassay plates, fluorescent and colorimetric blots, TLC plates, bacterial plates and many other types of specimens.

Hands-free motorized zoom lens with intuitive control or manual zoom lens
Focus, zoom in and out, and adjust the iris without ever reaching for the camera lens! Using our motorized zoom lens, these functions are easily controlled by clicking your computer mouse. A manual zoom lens is also available.

Upgrade as your needs expand
Is imaging chemiluminescent blots in your future? The Investigator/FX is designed to be easily upgraded to include a cooled CCD camera for low-light samples. This gives you the option to purchase incrementally.

Data storage flexibility
Files can be archived in several file formats, including TIFF and BMP, to preserve data integrity for downstream analysis. To make your files more accessible, the Invesetigator/FX can be networked.

Flexibility Equals Choice
Choose Your Camera
Investigator/FX systems offer several CCD camera options. Choose the 8-bit 0.4 megapixel standard camera for basic 1D gels. Choose a higher resolution 12-bit 1.4 or 2.0 megapixel firewire camera for 1D or 2D gels with narrowly separated bands or spots. Color cameras are also available.

Choose Your Zoom Lens
For hands-on simplicity, the 8-48 mm (6x) manual zoom lets you make adjustments by rotating the on-lens aperture, zoom, and focus rings. For hands-free convenience, the 11.5-69 mm (6x) motorized zoom option gives you the power to control the camera lens and darkroom through user-friendly software.

Choose Your Epi-Illumination
The FOTO/FX Benchtop Darkroom includes two white-light LED epi-illumination panels for framing, focusing, and overhead lighting of opaque samples. Additional epi-illumination options include single wavelength UV, dual wavelength UV, and visible blue light. Custom fluorescent options are also available.

Choose Your Photographic Filter Holder
The hands-on manual filter cassette option allows you to easily view and change filters externally. The hands-free motorized filter wheel option lets you choose filters through computer software or the benchtop darkroom touchpad.

Choose Your Transilluminator
Investigator/FX workstations accommodate our large-format FOTO/Flex transilluminators with 25x28 cm viewing surfaces. Select single wavelength UV, single wavelength dual light (UV plus white light), dual wavelength UV, or patented dual wavelength dual light. UV wavelength choices include 254 nm (short), 312 nm (mid) and 366 nm (long).

Computers, Printers, Analysis Software
Keep in mind that you can purchase your Investigator/FX with or without a PC or Mac compouter, thermal printer, or quantitative analysis software.

FOTO/FX Benchtop Darkroom

FOTO/Analyst Investigator/FX Workstations feature the FOTO/FX Benchtop Darkroom. This light-tight enclosure houses a CCD camera with manual and motorized options for both the zoom lens and filters.

A gliding transilluminator platform and side-opening door with interlock provide convenient and safe operation of our large-format FOTO/Flex transilluminators. Two interior visible epi-light panels allow easy focusing and even illumination of opaque samples such as blots. Additional dual UV epi-lights can be used top optimize sensitivity of samples stained with a variety of fluorescent dyes. The FOTO/FX camera mounting system allows for easy upgrading to other cameras, including those used for chemiluminescence.
