FOTO/Phoresis® UV Transilluminator

We Have Safety Covered

"Your FOTO/Phoresis is one of the most brilliantly designed pieces of laboratory apparatus that I have seen, and it sees daily use at my bench."

Kenneth A. Pidcock, Ph.D., Wilkes University

The patented FOTO/Phoresis UV Transilluminator is ideal for safe visualization and photography of DNA gels without leaving the lab bench. This transilluminator is equipped with two 9-watt, mid-range ultraviolet light bulbs with peak emissions of 300 nm, the optimum wavelength for viewing DNA stained with ethidium bromide. A patented UV-blocking, safety interlocking cover makes it possible to safely view the gel without the use of UV blocking eyeglasses, and an interlock indicator light lets you know when the interlock is engaged. When the cover is lifted the UV lamps and the interlock indicator light turn off.

For fool-proof photography, the FOTO/Phoresis is built with an acrylic frame which perfectly positions your gel in the UV light path. This frame also holds the FOTODYNE FCR-10 camera with photographic hood, and the FOTO/Analyst® MiniVisionary Benchtop Documentation System in place while shielding you from accidental exposure to ultraviolet light. The acrylic frame has also been designed to accommodate a standard, 100 mm Petri dish for UV mutagenesis experiments and other applications.

  • 8.6 x 10.8 cm viewing surface
  • UV Blocking Cover with interlocking safety switch and indicator light
  • Perfect positioning of mini-gels for photodocumentation

FOTO/Phoresis® White Light Transilluminator

White Light for Mini Gels

The FOTO/Phoresis White Light Transilluminator uses color-corrected white light to enhance visualization of Coomassie blue-stained protein mini-gels, methylene-blue stained DNA mini-gels, and colorimetric reactions in microtiter plates.

Compact and easy to use, the FOTO/Phoresis White Light Transilluminator is built with a white acrylic viewing surface that is compatible with the hand-held FCR-10 camera and photographic hood, and with the FOTO/Analyst® MiniVisionary Benchtop Documentation System. A groove in the viewing surface facilitates proper placement of your gel or standard Petri dish for photographing.
