TotalLab Quant Analysis Software

Exceptional flexibility and control
TotalLab Quant is a broad-based, high functionality image analysis program. It is structured around the most common life science applications, making it a great tool for a variety of research interests.
In just seconds, analyze 1D gels, quantitate microtiter plates or count colonies. It only takes a few clicks to completely customize your results to show only the data that most interests you.
Integrates easily with your gel imaging system
Analyze images in a variety of file formats, including .tiff (recommended), .jpg, .bmp and more. The software's "wizard-style" menus make it a snap to open your saved images, adjust brightness and contrast, crop and rotate, and perform other enhancements.
Easy to use
A fully automatic image analysis process combined with instant access to refinement at each step of the process makes TotalLab Quant easy to learn.
Extensive online help and an integrated user manual mean that you will always have the answers to your questions at your fingertips.
Easy to learn
Image analysis can be fully automated or can be completed in five simple steps. The first time user will have no difficulty turning an image into valuable data with just a few mouse clicks.

1D Electrophoresis Gel Analysis

TotalLab Quant's 1D Analysis module is perfect for a range of functions, from molecular size determination to accurately quantifying band material. You can perform a fully automatic analysis, manual analysis, or a combination of the two.
Automatic Analysis with manual options for added flexibility.
- Flexible & accurate molecular weight determination. Input your own molecular weight marker or use one of the many presets.
- Intuitive and accurate quantity calibration. Normalize to a single band, a group of bands, or create a quantity calibration curve.
- Single click auto-analysis
- Intuitive parameter settings allow complete control over any step of the analysis—lane creation, background subtraction, band detection, molecular weight determination, normalization and quantity calibration.
Powerful enough to analyze unconventional and not-so-perfect gels.
- Analysis of multi-tier gels. Divide your gel into up to 10 tiers.
- Resize and bend lanes to correct for smiling and slanting. Move and adjust either a single lane or cell of the lanes simultaneously.
- Grimacing tool for distorted lanes
- Add or subtract bands with one click.
Read your results in clear, customizable tables.
- Choose from 14 different data fields
- View results from all lanes, selected lanes, or lane comparisons.
- View lane historgrams, molecular weight curve, quantity calibration curve, visual representations of corrected lanes, and a data table.
- Can be exported to other software packages, including Excel.
Colony Counting

A real time-saver, TotalLab Quant's Colony Counting module performs counts in seconds. This flexible module is also useful for basic detection and measurement of 2D spots.
- Flexible detection parameters.
- Editing tools for the user to draw, erase, remove, split and renumber features.
- Basic background subtraction.
- Total count and spot data automatically displayed in table.
Array Analysis

The TotalLab Quant Array module is ideal for the quantitative analysis of dot and slot blots, microtiter plates and other basic arrays.
Grid detection and background subtraction
- Grid detection and background subtraction are performed in a single step for fast and accurate results.
- TotalLab Quant's grid detection is widely regarded as the most reliable and consistent detection algorithm currently available in any Array analysis software.
Normalization
- Calculate to a single spot or group of spots.
- Spot values can be expressed relative to an internal control if required.
Presence / Absence Flagging
- Indicates spots over a certain threshold.
- Automatically estimate, or define the faintest ‘present' spot
Image Annotation
- Brightness and contrast control based on the histogram of the image's pixel intensity.
- Apply a pseudocolor scheme to make faint bands more visible.
- Rotate images for the most accurate lane measurement.
- Annotate image in your choice of font, color, size, and position. Just a click to delete an incorrect annotation.
Are You a 1D Power User?

More power than TotalLab Quant, Phoretix 1D Analysis Software is perfect for everything from simple molecular weight determination and quantitation, to complex applications such as those involving band pattern mathcing and the study of relationships between lanes. Contact FOTODYNE for more details.
- Automate the routine analysis of gorups of similar gels.
- Five dendogram options. Lanes from different gels can be aligned and compared.
- MADGE and grid cell analysis for high-throughput screening.
